Updated Digs

Recently had the chance to upgrade our workshop with the purchase of a new rolling tool chest. Despite my best efforts to crush myself as I moved it into our basement solo, only my pride was hurt. Fortunately the new addition allowed me to rearrange the space into a more optimal setup.

The biggest change is at my old standing workbench. Since all the power and hand tools were able to be stored in the new chest, the bench was reconfigured into more of a hobby station. This area is primarily used for cutting and glue up of structures. However my paint booth is also here, since there’s a window nearby for easy ventilation.

An old but very functional picnic table serves as a space for smaller projects, including car upgrades and paint. I do end up moving back and forth between both areas as the mood strikes, alternating between standing and sitting.

Are there better, more feature-filled hobby workspaces in the world? Absolutely. But I’m fortunate to have the space I have in any condition I find it.
