Blatant self-promotion time returns, as The Hills Line is featured in several publications this month.
The first is my article in the always impressive Model Railroad Planning. For the 2024 edition, I share how I can host two separate eras on the same layout. It’s always an honor to appear in Tony Koester’s annual treatise on layout design.
The second places the railroad squarely in the centerfold category. My image of IAIS 708 leading train ICSW across U.S. Highway 6 in Iowa City is the January image of the 2024 Model Railroader calendar. The scene initially appeared in the May 2022 Model Railroader Trackside Photos section. The calendar is a considerably higher resolution and will probably find a more permanent home after the month.
Finally, the concluding episode from Season 2 of The Hills Line with James McNab was released earlier this week. Working with Kent, Ben, and the rest of the Kalmbach Media team over the past 19 episodes has been an honor. I appreciate their allowing me to combine my vocation with my avocation.
MRP ’24 and the 2024 Model Railroading Calendar are currently available for purchase at the Kalmbach Hobby Store, while the entire series of The Hills Line with James McNab is available online at Trains.com Video. I hope you’ll check them out.
I read and really enjoyed the eras article James. Keep up the great work!
