I’ve been fortunate over the life of The Hills Line to have shared the railroad in a variety of ways. Besides this website, there are Instagram, Flickr, and YouTube sites dedicated to the layout. And, of course, I’ve been privileged to serve as a Contributing Editor for Firecrown’s Trains.com, producing and hosting The Hills Line with James McNab.

Each site hosts a specific style and selection of content that best suits the venue. I use Instagram to share “day in the life” updates covering progress on the railroad. The Flickr site features polished images of the layout that I would consider publication-ready, even if the early shots showed a less-than-finished layout. My YouTube channel features short vignette videos that showcase the railroad in action from a scale vantage point.
All of this supporting content feeds back to this website, which serves as the home base for the layout. I do try not to repeat myself by putting the same content in multiple locations. Sometimes I’m more successful with that in theory than in practice.

Despite the multitude of venues available, my goal remains to share with you my philosophy and practices behind the design, construction, and operation of The Hills Line, regardless of the method you use to access the information I share.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family James!
